Chumbo.com Partners With IBM to Develop E-Commerce Solution

Online software distributor Chumbo.com signed an agreement
with IBM for the launch of a Web site that
gives new
Aptiva PC customers new option for selected Aptiva software.

A key component of IBM’s Owner Privileges program, Aptiva owners can
go to the new dedicated Web site and choose from a selection of popular
software titles. Aptiva PC customers also have direct access to the Chumbo.com
site where they can choose from thousands of software titles.

“Consumers have a variety of lifestyle interests which they want to experience
on their PC. At IBM we don’t feel it should be our role to limit our customers
to cut-down
versions of office productivity software or be bombarded with unwanted
games,” said
Brian Conners general manager of consumer systems, IBM Consumer Division. “The
agreement with Chumbo.com opens up a selection of the hottest, most popular
and affordably priced software titles that consumers can purchase to customize
their Aptiva to their lifestyle. IBM Easy Choice also continues building the
ongoing relationship we are developing with Aptiva users through our Owner
Privileges program.”

Upon purchasing a new IBM Aptiva, customers are guided to the IBM Easy
Choice Web site during the initial product registration process. Rather than
mandate
pre-configured software packages, the IBM Easy Choice site, hosted by
Chumbo.com, offers the customer a choice of popular software package options
from leading software publishers.

IBM Easy Choice product sales will be fulfilled by Chumbo.com through its
partnership with Zomax Inc. a provider of outsourcing services which also will
take
responsibility for software replication.

After registering their new Aptiva PC, customers initially can purchase two
titles for under $10. Additional premium software titles are available for as
low as $15. Software selections are available in four categories: Education,
Entertainment, Reference & Utilities and Personal Productivity.
