CommerceNet presented its CommerceNet New Innovator Awards to: AvantGo of San Mateo, CA; Brokat of Stuttgart, Germany; DealTime, a product of Papricom of Israel; eBay of San Jose, CA; and General Magic of Sunnyvale, CA.
CommerceNet is an industry association for
promoting and building electronic commerce solutions on the Internet. The
CommerceNet New Innovator program is designed to honor companies that have
made a significant advancement in the area of technology, applications,
service or business processes. More than 90 companies competed for the five
awards.
“The recipients of the CommerceNet New Innovator awards are breaking new
ground and leading the advancement of electronic commerce on the Internet,”
said Randall C. Whiting, president and CEO of CommerceNet.
AvantGo extends enterprise applications to
handheld devices. Brokat International is a
supplier of secure solutions for Internet banking, brokerage and payment. DealTime combines auction technology with
intelligent agents and personalized communication. eBay is an Internet auction operator. General Magic’s magicTalk offers an
intelligent voice user interface that allows users to interact with complex
data.
Scholarships of $14,500 toward a one-year Portfolio Membership in CommerceNet,
which is valued at $15,000, were awarded to each of the five innovators.
Recipients also receive promotional and developmental opportunities involving the 500
companies that are CommerceNet members.
