Computer Currents Interactive, the Web site
that supports Computer Currents Magazine, launched CCI’s Software Shop through an
alliance with software.net.

CCI’s Software Shop lets users order more than 21,000 products, with over
2,200 titles available for immediate download.

Products are grouped under headings such as Windows 95, Macintosh,
Internet, or
Graphics & Design. Users can search the site by product name, manufacturer,
and operating system.

Software.net, which has created commerce sites for Netscape, CMPnet, SF
Gate, and Claris, among others, provides the entire
infrastructure–transactions, customer support, fraud screening, and all
other necessary services. Financial arrangements were not disclosed.

“CCI is a resource center of information helping the small to medium size
business person make buying decisions for their companies. The Software Shop
enhances our site by allowing users to buy the products they read about,” said
Pauline Salois, director of Computer Currents Interactive.

Computer Currents is a consumer magazine targeted for small to mid-size
business users and is distributed in eight major computer markets including
Northern California, Southern California, Dallas, Houston, Austin, Atlanta,
Chicago, and Boston. The magazine’s estimated readership is over 1.6 million.
