San Francisco-based Consumers Car Club launched a used car buyers protection program and a newly overhauled Web site for its online services.
The new site, coupled with the 10-year-old, privately-held company’s long-
standing telephone service, 1-800-CARCLUB, provides consumers information,
and convenience in every aspect of purchasing, selling, and insuring new and
used vehicles, the company said.
Through the used car buyers protection program, consumers follow a
three-step process of “informing, assuring and ensuring” that enables them to
avoid hidden problems when purchasing a used car.
The program consists of the following services:
- A Used Car Pricing Report provides a way for buyers to determine the market value of any vehicle.
- A Carfax service provides consumers with a vehicle history. Through the vehicle’s VIN number, Carfax informs buyers as to whether: the odometer reading is correct; whether the vehicle has been stolen; whether it has experienced fire, flood or extensive water damage; and whether it was ever seriously crashed and/or has been issued a salvage or junk title.
- On-Site Inspection offered in all 50 states. A certified professional automotive technician travels to the buyer’s desired vehicle to make an inspection.
A used vehicle buyer can purchase a comprehensive protection coverage package
on most vehicles that pass Car Club’s vehicle inspection. Coverage ranges from six months to six years and up to 100,000 miles.
The redesigned carclub.com site loads graphics and animation faster and offers expanded information resources, including a new car buying service called Dealer Connection involving pre-screened and approved dealers, featuring no haggle pricing and complete disclosure of the dealer’s invoice price.
A Car Club expert will work to find consumers the car make and model they
desire, arrange for the price, fill out the paperwork, work out its delivery, and effectively eliminate the headache that characterizes new car purchasing,
the company said.
