Upscale online retailer CyberShop International Inc. in New York City signed a two-year sponsorship and marketing agreement with Excite Inc.
Under terms of the agreement, cybershop.com will be more prominently
presented than any other competitive online department store on the Excite and WebCrawler services. Financial details were not disclosed.
The deal will give Excite’s more than 20 million monthly users direct access
to CyberShop through Excite’s Shopping, Lifestyle and Entertainment Channels,
and WebCrawler’s Shopping and Home & Family Channels. CyberShop will also have targeted banner advertising across the Excite service.
“This agreement is part of our mission to identify and maximize opportunities
to expand our market base and grow the CyberShop brand,” said Jill Markus,
vice president of business development at CyberShop.
CyberShop provides a shopping experience that incorporates traditional
department store and mail-order features into an online shopping environment,
offering brands such as Waterford Crystal and Christofle tableware, Braun,
Swiss Army, and Calphalon. CyberShop.com carries more than 40,000 products from more than 400 manufacturers.
“Our partnership with CyberShop expands Excite’s commerce strategy to offer
our members the best variety of content and range of merchandise on the Web,”
said Kenny Wachtel, senior vice president of advertising and sales for Excite.
Excite shoppers can find items by brand and department through the store
directory or by using CyberShop’s search engine. WebCrawler’s Shopping and
Home & Family Channels will also prominently feature the CyberShop site.
CyberShop is a member of the Excite Certified Merchants program and carries
the “Excite Guaranteed” logo to let customers know that the site has been
approved for safe shopping.
