Digital River, Inc. , the Minneapolis-based provider of outsourced e-commerce services, today announced an alliance with SPS Commerce Inc., a supply chain integration service provider.

The two companies will offer an expanded suite of e-commerce products and services to the SPS’ small to mid-sized enterprises (SME) customers through leveraging Digital River’s outsourced e-commerce system.

The integrated service aims to offer the SME market affordable e-commerce sites, designed, hosted, and operated by Digital River.

The two firm’s say, the alliance will open new e-commerce channels for SPS clients while broadening market opportunities for them both.

SPS says its clients will be able to streamline the purchasing, fulfillment and delivery of products to their consumers as well as broaden their access to retailers selling through online direct-to-consumer channels.

“We are pleased to be working with SPS Commerce in meeting the e-commerce needs and business requirements of small to mid-sized buyers and suppliers in today’s marketplace,” says Joel Ronning, Digital River’s CEO.

“We can help these companies leverage and web-enable important offline business relationships and processes,” he adds.

“We are excited about our partnership with Digital River because of the company’s proven ability to serve SMEs in a hosted service environment,” says Archie Black, CEO of SPS Commerce.

“The integration of Digital River’s e-commerce system into our services will contribute to the success of our customers’ e-businesses and the growth of our SME community.”
