Just in time to attract holiday shoppers, online
retailer Egghead.com Monday launched a
redesigned Web site that consolidates the company’s three online stores.

The new site combines the old Egghead.com site with SurplusAuction and
SurplusDirect and will offer separate buying venues for merchandise,
surplus liquidations and multiple auctions.

“This is the most significant step the company has taken since closure of
the retail stores and the migration of our business to the Internet,” said
George Orban, Egghead.com’s chairman and chief executive officer.

“The new site will allow the company to grow its core PC products business
and improve customer service performance while adding entirely new product
categories.”

New features include easier navigation, reduced download time, more
descriptive product information, an advanced search utility and improved
customer service.
