Encoding.com Secures $10M Investment

Aug 24, 1999

encoding.com, a creator of digital
business solutions and a provider of optimized audio and video encoding
services, secured a second round of investments totaling $10 million.

The funding, led by RRE Investors and supported by existing
investors, including Olympic Venture Partners and others, will be used to
support encoding.com’s expansion plans, the company said.

“RRE Investors focuses on expansion-stage funding opportunities with market
leaders,” said Stuart Ellman of RRE Investors and a member of encoding.com’s
board. “encoding.com is clearly the leader in a key segment of the streaming
media industry.”

encoding.com said it would also use the funding to add a new consulting
services business unit and expand its headquarters and production operations.
Clients include RealNetworks, Microsoft, Apple Computer, ABC, Cisco, Buena
Vista/Disney, FEMA, Major League Baseball, Merck, Safeco Insurance, Sony and
Warner Brothers.

encoding.com recently launched its first online application, mediaUpgrade.com, to convert
non-streaming digital media into new streaming and Internet formats such as
MP3, Windows Media and Real Media.
