Expanding their personalization strategies, Excite Inc. and American Airlines Monday announced plans to
integrate the content and personalization features of their two sites.
The agreement calls for American Airlines to receive promotional exposure
on Excite’s front page and travel channel, giving users access to American
Airlines flight and frequent flier information. Financial terms of the
agreement were not disclosed.
“Like Excite, we are committed to giving the consumer a personalized
experience,” said John Samuel, managing director of interactive marketing
at American Airlines. “This new agreement will help
us extend what we already do on our site give each customer individual
attention online to millions of Excite users.”
As part of the new alliance, American will run a promotion on Excite that
will offer the opportunity to win roundtrip coach tickets on American
Airlines by registering for an Excite personalized page. The promotion
lasts from Oct. 19-Nov. 1.
“This contract forges a new kind of alliance on the Internet. Excite is the
first Internet portal to partner with a major airline online,” said Kenny
Wachtel, senior vice president of ad sales for Excite. “We are
committed to what the Internet can do for travelers and how they can use
both companies’ personalization to get travel information immediately
online.”
