Bias-free product recommendation service Active Buyer’s Guide has been
licensed from Active Research by LookSmart, BizRate.com, Productopia and DealTime.com.
Disney’s GO Network, Lycos and mySimon are among other users.
LookSmart will not only deploy Active Buyer’s Guide on its own site, but also
syndicate the service to its user network, which includes MSN, Netscape
Netcenter, Excite@Home, AltaVista and more than 280 ISPs.
“By providing highly personalized recommendations across a large variety of
product categories, LookSmart will help online shoppers sort through purchase
options and make informed choices about what to buy,” said Kristin Morse,
director of goods and services at LookSmart.
“By combining Active Buyer’s Guide product recommendations with BizRate.com’s
real-time guide of merchant performance ratings, we are helping consumers
find the products and online stores that best meet their needs,” said John
Phelps, vice president of business development at BizRate.com.
Productopia, another independent source
of unbiased product information and buying advice, is also incorporating
Active Buyer’s Guide’s into its recommendation service.
DealTime.com, is an independent, online
comparison shopping service. “For the holidays, we help consumers locate not
only the perfect price, but now the perfect product choice as well, and much
quicker than traditional selection methods,” said Paul Howe, vice president
of product management at DealTime.com.
Active Buyer’s Guide covers more than 60 product categories. The service
intelligently hones in on each user’s individual preferences and identifies
the products with the highest value.
Shoppers can then sort their list by feature or price, compare
products side-by-side, link to reviews, or search for where to buy their
final choice.
The service
has been syndicated free-of-charge to portal, merchant and consumer
information sites since September 1998.
