Amazon.com Tuesday inked a technology pact with computer maker Hewlett-Packard Co..
Amazon.com (AMZN)
will use a variety of H-P (HWP)
computers and technology to improve the infrastructure that drives one of the world’s busiest e-commerce sites.
Amazon.com will now purchase products directly from H-P and will offer them in its consumer electronics store.
Amazon.com is installing HP 9000 V-Class enterprise servers that will
deliver the high availability, scalability and mainframe-class performance
needed to support its e-commerce business. Amazon.com’s decision to partner
with H-P was made in part by analyst projections that demands on Amazon.com
systems will be three times greater this holiday season over past seasons,
and by H-P’s ability to offer creative financial solutions to Amazon.com for
the acquisition of H-P technology.
Amazon.com’s said H-P products are among its best-selling items.
Amazon highlighted a busy day by acquiring leading online toy store Back to
Basics, which specializes in offering clients classic toys.
