Impulse! Buy Network and InfoSpace entered into a strategic alliance that will introduce impulse shopping to InfoSpace’s network of 1,500 Web sites and 5,000 merchants.
Impulse! said it will provide InfoSpace with a continuous “feed” of time-sensitive product offers in real-time from its base of more than 80 name-brand merchants, including Cyberian Outpost, Egghead, Land’s End and The Sharper Image. InfoSpace said it will distribute these product offers through its syndicated content and services, and to its network of Web sites, which it says average more than 200 million page views per month.
In addition, Impulse! said it will create an InfoSpace-specific version of its authoring tool to allow InfoSpace’s 5,000 affiliated merchants to create their own product offers. These offers can then be distributed through InfoSpace’s network as well as through Impulse!’s broader network of destination Web sites, ad networks and e-mail services. Financial terms of the arrangement were not disclosed.
Merchant-created offers appear within the “ImpulseRack!”–the Internet’s
equivalent of point-of-purchase displays–which are permanently housed on
Web sites across the Internet.
Unlike banner ads, each ImpulseRack! holds a continuous stream of scrolling offers on products from a variety of merchants, and is branded by the Web site on which it resides. Each offer indicates what the product is, how many are left, the special price, and a real-time “countdown” that reminds consumers to ‘act now’ before quantities disappear. Consumers can click on an offer to view more information about the product, and instantly purchase it by submitting their shipping and billing information.
Redmond, WA-based InfoSpace stated it will host ImpulseRack! in the following
content/service areas: the InfoSpace Shopping Directory, Merchant.com,
VirtualOutlet.com, My Info, Classifieds and Yellow
Pages.
“This is clearly a win-win alliance that allows InfoSpace to offer a value-added service to its users, merchants and Web sites, while providing our network and merchants with a tremendous increase in distribution,” said Mark H. Goldstein, president and CEO of Impulse! Buy Network
