Some of the leading companies in the Internet industry have jointly produced a new turnkey solution that will compete with the growing list of products aimed at e-commerce-enabling Web sites.

The “E-Commerce Quick-Start” product was co-developed by Microsoft Corp., Hewlett-Packard Company, CyberSource Corp., Exodus Communications, Inc., and Servinet Consulting Group, Inc..

The companies said the new solution contains the necessary server software, hardware, and Web hosting e-commerce applications needed to launch an e-commerce site. The product will also be supported by consulting and integration services.

Citing prohibitive commercial Web site building costs that can amount to hundreds of thousands of dollars, the firms said the solution
provides a low-cost alternative. The Quick-Start bundle, which will retail for approximately $50,000, incorporates Microsoft Site Server Commerce Server 3.0, HP NetServer LC II systems, Exodus hosting and management services, and CyberSource on-demand commerce applications and services.

Also included in the package are secure payment, fraud screening,
fulfillment messaging and digital distribution applications. In addition, the package includes e-commerce integrator Servinet services such as end-to-end consulting and integration for installation.

Depending on business requirements, customers will be able to pick either the whole solutions package or its various components. Featured hardware includes one or more H-P NetServer LC II P2-266 system and Microsoft Windows NT Server, SQL Server V6.5, and the new Site Server Commerce Server 3.0 software.

Exodus provides start-up 24 x 7 hosting services, including co-location, network and managed services.

The E-Commerce Quick-Start package will be showcased beginning today at the e-commerce solution seminars, “Building Blocks of E-Commerce,” in San Jose, CA and also in San Francisco on August 20.

For more infomation see details at Exodus or call 888-302-8855. The package is now available for purchase from Servinet.
