Incubator company Internet Venture Works (IVW) entered into a
partnership deal with J.W. Childs Associates LP, a private
equity firm with $1.5 billion of equity capital under management.

The move is aimed at accelerating the transition of brick and mortar
companies to the online market, including the rapid creation of online
subsidiaries of numerous J.W. Childs portfolio companies. Financial
arrangements between the companies were not disclosed.

IVW provides brick and mortar companies with the funding, strategic expertise
and infrastructure required to speed up their transformation into “click and
mortar” companies. The company also incubates and funds select stand-alone Internet
startups.

The Childs portfolio includes many businesses with commanding market
positions and significant e-commerce opportunities, IVW said.

“The partnership with IVW will allow J.W. Childs’ portfolio companies to
quickly and effectively unleash the trapped growth potential and value
offered by the Internet,” said Glenn Hopkins, managing director of J.W.
Childs.
