New Transaction System Planned for Media Content

Digital rights management company Massive Media Group and e-business
solutions company US Interactive said they are teaming
up to design and build a digital commerce system that facilitates secure
transactions for digital entertainment and media content.

The companies said they expect to begin offering financial clearinghouse
functionality later this year.

“One of the major issues media and entertainment industries face today is
managing and safely distributing valuable intellectual property rights in
this ever changing environment of multiple distribution systems, both
off-line and online.” said Howard Weitzman, chief executive officer of
Massive Media.

“This digital commerce transaction system, that will utilize
account management software from Portal Software and digital rights
management capabilities from InterTrust Technologies, will become a
significant element in the fully integrated end-to-end digital commerce
platform that Massive Media Group is developing.”

The account management software from Portal Software and rights management
capability of InterTrust will provide a common foundation for distributed
commerce, digital information and event management, the companies said.

MMG, founded by entertainment and advertising industry executives Frank
Biondi Jr., Howard Weitzman, Greg Meidel and Michael Kassan, is initially
targeting the intersection of entertainment and advertising in the digital
delivery of content.
