Audio content provider NextAudio Inc. Thursday announced a marketing and
technology relationship with Microsoft Corp.
As part of the agreement NextAudio will support MicrosoftWindows Media Technology with its
MyRadio product. In turn, Microsoft will promote MyRadio through its WindowsMedia.com site and Windows
Media Player 7 to Windows Media users. NextAudio will promote Windows Media
through MyRadio’s interactive audio distribution channel.
NextAudio utilizes Microsoft’s digital rights management (DRM) solution to
enable interactivity and enhance personalization while giving NextAudio the
ability to deliver secure one-to-one music distribution channels. The Windows
Media Format also will allow MyRadio listeners to transfer their programming
to portable devices.
The alliance will revolutionize the Internet radio
experience, according to Jeff Williams, chief executive officer of NextAudio. “We have the
next generation of radio on the Web, and it will deliver what everyone has
been asking for — personalization, portability and interactivity with new
and favorite music — all in one easy-to-use package.”
