Oracle Hits to Road to Pitch Data Center Plans

With all eyes on Oracle and its plans for Sun hardware now that its acquisition of Sun is complete, the database, enterprise software and (now) server giant is taking its message on the road, looking to connect with customers and talk up its vision of the data center of the future.

And not a moment too soon. Industry observers already knew Sun customers were nervous about what was in store for their investments when Oracle’s intention to buy Sun first made headlines. Now, months after the acquisition has closed, they’re looking for some concrete details — and Oracle may be poised to deliver. Server Watch has the story.

Oracle is ramping up its push to get its hardware and software systems front and center to prospective IT buyers. With Sun Microsystems now firmly in Oracle’s (NASDAQ: ORCL) fold, the database giant is kicking off a series of “Next-Generation Datacenter: Optimize with Oracle events” starting next Tuesday in Palo Alto, Calif.

The event kicks off with a keynote by former Sun exec John Fowler, now Oracle’s executive vice president of systems, titled: “Business Driven IT using Appliances, Systems and Private Clouds.”
