PeopleSoft this week launched PeopleSoft MarketPlace, a B2B
exchange that enables employees, customers, and suppliers to connect and do
business over the Internet.
The operation is part of the company’s new MarketPlace Solutions Division,
which will be headed by former Oracle Corp. executive Kerry P. Lamson. He
will oversee development, strategy, sales and marketing for PeopleSoft’s B2B
e-commerce initiatives.
The MarketPlace Solutions Division presently has about 200 development, sales
and marketing employees. Additionally, the unit can take advantage of
PeopleSoft Consulting and its more than 150 e-business consultants.
PeopleSoft MarketPlace is powered by the PeopleSoft Internet Architecture, an
XML-based open integration platform.
“The new business unit will further strengthen PeopleSoft’s push into the
explosive B2B market,” said Craig Conway, president and chief executive
officer at PeopleSoft.
PeopleSoft MarketPlace currently offers e-procurement for office supplies
(MRO). Future services are scheduled to include direct procurement, resource
management, benefits, travel and expense, and recruiting. The solutions will
enable strategic decision making by integrating PeopleSoft Enterprise
Performance Management, the company’s e-business intelligence suite.
Trading partners include Authoria, CFN, Impresse, Sabre and Skills Village.
The exchange also integrates suppliers from the Commerce One Global Trading
Web, including Boise Cascade, ImageX.com, MicroWarehouse, NECX Direct, Noosh,
Office Depot, WESCO Distribution, VWR Scientific, and Wareforce, among
others.
PeopleSoft is an e-business applications and consulting company with
solutions that include customer relationship management, e-commerce and
supply chain management, human resource management, financial management,
professional services automation, and learning solutions for a variety of
industries.
