Pet products site Pets.com raised $35 million in a third round
of funding from its current investors, Amazon.com, Bowman Capital Partners and Hummer Winblad Venture Partners, as well as
from new investor Phoenix Capital Partners.
Combined with the more than $60 million raised by Pets.com in its first two
rounds of funding, the investment in the online pet site totals nearly $100
million.
“We are delighted to continue to support Pets.com because of their intense
commitment to the customer,” said Jeff Bezos, Amazon.com founder and chief executive officer,
“and, of course, to the customer’s pet.”
Pets.com said it would use the funding to accelerate growth through
advertising and add more distribution centers.
