Shop.org, RT Magazine Plan E-Commerce Summit

Shop.org in Silver Spring, MD, the online retailers association, and RT, a technology magazine for retail executives, will team up this fall to present eRetailing ’98: The Online Retailing Summit at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City.


Shop.org represents all segments of online retailing on the Internet,
including virtual retailers, conventional retailers, catalogers,
manufacturers, and companies providing products and services for online
retailers.


RT Magazine provides monthly reporting on how retailers are applying new computing and communications capabilities to their businesses. RT is published by Darien, CT-based Progressive Grocer Associates.


Slated for Oct. 4-6, eRetailing ’98 will take an in-depth look at the specific
marketing and merchandising techniques and issues unique to online retailing
ventures, including
branding, valuing distribution deals, and customer loyalty programs.

Separately, Shop.org said its new officers are Cliff Sharples, president of Garden Escape, as chairman; Elaine Rubin, chairman of iBaby, as vice chairman; Andrew Sternthal, director new business development of CDnow, as treasurer; and Tony Levitan, co-founder of Greet Street. Robert L. Smith Jr., former executive director of the Interactive Services Association, is shop.org’s executive director.
