“Technical Marketplace” Site Planned

Professional services firm KPMG LLP is teaming up with Ingram Micro , a wholesale
distributor of technology products and services, to develop a virtual
marketplace offering tech solution purchasing, fulfillment and distribution
through a single site.

The new site “forms a critical link in the technology supply chain by
providing suppliers, distributors and resellers with a high-value hub that
facilitates the exchange of product, program and market information,” the
companies said.

The Web portal is designed to be a single point-of-contact that will
integrate all customer, distribution and supply channels streamlining access
to information.

“With this transformation, Ingram Micro is driving a fundamental change
through the wholesale distribution industry,” said Guy Abramo, senior vice
president of worldwide marketing and co-chair of the eSolutions Group at
Ingram Micro. “Customer focus at every step in the supply chain is the key to
success in today’s fast-paced digital economy, and this initiative solidifies
Ingram Micro’s position as the market leader.”

The project is divided into two phases. First, KPMG will help Ingram Micro
create a next-generation e-commerce infrastructure. The second phase will
focus on the development of marketing systems that facilitate one-to-one
relationships between resellers, distributors and suppliers and their
customers.

Ingram Micro Inc. headquartered in Santa Ana, CA, is a wholesale distributor
of technology products and services with 1998 sales of $22 billion.

KPMG LLP is the U.S. member firm of KPMG International. In the U.S., KPMG
partners and professionals provide accounting, tax and consulting services.
