Travelocity.com Records $9 Million in Sales in a Week

The SABRE Group in Fort Worth, said that its Travelocity.com site recorded
more than $9 million in sales for the week ending Jan. 10.


Online revenue in 1998 for The SABRE Group’s consumer-direct
products, including Travelocity.com, was $285 million, more
than double that of the previous year, the company said.


“We believe our 1998 revenue is evidence of our leadership position in the
online travel arena,” said Terry Jones, chief information officer of The SABRE
Group.


The company said its achievements in 1998 included:



  • Shop Safe Guarantee–an added assurance against unauthorized credit
    card usage.
  • A site redesign, adding features developed to speed the flight
    booking process and provide an improved hotel database, giving members access
    to reviews, amenities, maps and photos.
  • An express buy feature whereby customers purchase airline tickets with just
    three clicks of the mouse.


Travelocity.com provides reservations capabilities for more than 420 airlines,
more than 40,000 hotels, and more than 50 car rental companies. The site has
registered more than 5 million members and logs more than 55 million page
views per month.
