WebVision and TrueSoft Inc. formed a strategic partnership to jointly develop
open e-commerce solutions that utilize XML (Extensible Markup Language)
technology.
The partnership combines the strengths of WebVision’s Internet procurement solutions and extranet technologies with TrueSoft’s expertise in software programming
and XML development.
The two companies said they will integrate XML-based technology into the
WEBtropolis Application Development Framework by WebVision to create dynamic,
self-describing, electronic commerce services that can be leveraged across
business domains.
The new solution will offer companies participating in electronic commerce the
opportunity to easily conduct business, by enabling exchange of business
documents and transactions such as product catalogs, invoices, purchase
orders, shipping confirmations and payment confirmations regardless of the
application or database system used by the customers.
“XML is an enabler for e-commerce because it offers the ability to publish
data once and have it readily available and recognizable by all trading
partners involved,” said Zeb Bhatti, CEO of WebVision. “This is more efficient and cost effective than the one-to-one relationships needed in the existing EDI standard.”
“We believe that XML will enable next-generation commerce solutions that offer
significant benefits over EDI as it is easier to deploy, easier to understand,
and can be adopted much more rapidly than traditional EDI solutions,” said Bhatti. “Furthermore, our partnership with TrueSoft represents a significant step
forward in our model to lower our overall programming costs by leveraging less
costly offshore program resources to augment our programming staff in the
U.S.”
TrueSoft in Torrance, CA is a supplier of offshore programming resources and
services to enable companies to reduce the overall programming costs of a
given project. TrueSoft focuses on building enabling technologies using C++,
Java, Visual Basic and nTier’s dynamic partitioning visual languages.
