Western Digital Goes Big with 6 TB Storage

There is a new top end for consumer grade external hard drives.

Western Digital (WD) has announced a new 6 Terabyte (TB) system called the My Book Studio Edition II. The new platform supports RAID 1, to provide data mirroring across the two drives.

“For the consumer, this is the largest,” a WD spokesperson told InternetNews.com. “There are larger capacity drives with more drive slots, but a 3 TB drive is the largest internal drive to date, thus this two drive system is the largest in its category.”

While the new My Book Studio Edition II is being targeted at creative professional that use Apple’s Mac platform, PC users will also be able to leverage the system as well.
