Facebook Joins PTA in Online Safety Effort

Child safety is a big issue for Facebook, as the company continuously struggles to keep kids under 13 off of its social network and battle abusive online behavior such as cyberbullying.

Now, Facebook is teaming with the National Parent Teacher Association to raise awareness for the issue and promote safe surfing. The groups are also working on tackling the digital divide by reaching out to low-income and minority families. eSecurity Planet has the details.


Social networking kingpin Facebook has partnered with the National Parent Teacher Association to develop a program to promote Internet safety and combat cyberbullying and other online blights.

The joint effort will see Facebook broadcast news and information about online child safety to its considerable global audience, which is fast approaching 500 million users.
