Microsoft IE Browser Slips in Share After Gains

Internet Explorer has long enjoyed a dominant position in the browser market. But recent years have seen competitors, most notably Mozilla’s Firefox, chip away at its commanding position.

So when IE began to post modest sequential gains in recent months, it came as no surprise that Microsoft seized on the opportunity to tout its browser as resurgent.

But according to the latest statistics ranking the market share of the leading Web browsers, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer is slipping again. HTML Goodies takes a look.


Microsoft has been bragging lately that Internet Explorer (IE) is no longer losing ground to competitors, and has actually begun to recapture some of its market share.

However, the latest numbers from Web analytics firm Net Applications may tell a different story than Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) was hoping for.
