If the invitation is to be believed, Xsigo will be unveiling an I/O virtualization product at the end of August that will “change everything.” An analyst who closely tracks the data center sector imagines the news being on a little smaller scale, but he’s still enthusiastic about what the company will unveil.

Xsigo isn’t giving away much, but it promises that its technology will strike a blow at the problem of vendor lock-in that it says plagues clients of major firms like Cisco. On hand at Xsigo’s launch later this month at VMworld will be executives from Dell and Salesforce.com. Server Watch takes a look.

What does Xsigo have planned for the upcoming VMworld conference later this month? The company isn’t quite ready to tip its hand, save for a few bold claims in a media invite.

“Please join us on Aug. 31 for an industry news event certain to make computing history. Xsigo is launching a significant new virtual I/O technology that accelerates the advancement of data center convergence — a key enabler of cloud computing,” an invite sent to InternetNews.com reads.
