Advanced Digital Information Corporation(R) (ADIC) today announced that it has begun shipping a broad range of Super DLTtape(TM) libraries into its distribution channels.
According to ADIC, it is integrating next-generation Super DLTtape technology into its Scalar(R) 100, Scalar 1000 and Scalar 10K automated tape libraries. The new technology nearly triples the capacity and doubles the data transfer rates of earlier generation products. The libraries also offer backward read-compatibility with existing DLT products.
ADIC’s Scalar Super DLT library platforms include the Scalar 100, which provides up to 6 Super DLTtape drives and from 15 to 60 cartridges in only 14 standard rack units (24.5 inches), the Scalar 1000, which scales from 118 to 788 cartridge positions–over 170 TB capacity with normal 2:1 compression–and from 1 to 48 SuperDLT drives, and the Scalar 10K, a SAN-enabled enterprise library platform that supports from 700 to 8,014 SuperDLT tapes and up to 324 drives.
The Scalar 100 with support for Super DLTtape technology is available now, with suggested list pricing starting at under $22,000. The Scalar 1000 and Scalar 10K are set to be available in production quantities in August.
