Asante Technologies, Inc. today announced the FriendlyNET FR5000 Accelerated Cable/DSL Router, which it said allows users to share any high-speed Internet connection at up to 100 Mbps.

According to the company, the FR5007 offers all the features of a NAS (Network Attached Storage) switch and router. Asante also said a dual Internet cache dramatically accelerates all subsequent accesses to the same websites. “The web-caching feature alone is a $3000-$4000 value,” stated Paul Alleluia, director of East Coast sales at Asante. “It will significantly speed up connections in a school or training environment, for example.”

Asante’s routers, switches, and other products are available from Asante solution providers, e-commerce sites, and systems integrators.
