Auspex Systems, Inc. this week announced that the operating system for its new NS3000 series of Network Attached Storage (NAS) servers has been certified for use with Time Navigator, a backup and restore software platform from Atempo .

According to the companies, the certification ensures interoperability and optimal performance of Time Navigator with the TurboReplicator NDMP-based local and remote backup/restore software included in Auspex’s new NetOS 4.1.

“This certification is another important step in our efforts to support all leading backup and restore software packages and offer the broadest possible range of options for protecting enterprise data,” said Jeff D. Book, Auspex Director of Performance Engineering and Technology Partners. “Atempo has established itself as an important player in the European market under the Quadratec name, and the company’s expansion into North America will give customers here a new alternative for NDMP-based backup.”

“We are working with key storage vendors like Auspex to help enterprises safeguard their information assets,” said David Swafford, Atempo Vice President of Strategic Alliances. “With this certification of our Time Navigator software with the Auspex NS3000 and a broad selection of tape libraries and drives, system administrators have access to a high performance backup and restore platform that is integrated and optimized for smooth data protection.”
