Storage management software vendor BakBone Software(TM) and network storage infrastructure company FalconStor Software today announced a partnership to bundle BakBone’s NetVault(TM) backup/restore software with FalconStor’s IPStor(TM).

According to the companies, NetVault will be able to run on IPStor servers to locally backup and restore their data, relieving application servers on an IP-based storage area network (SAN) from the processing burdens of traditional backup methods.

The two companies agreed to collaborate on product testing and development of network and product architecture solution sets and certifications. In addition, they will pursue cooperative marketing programs to increase industry awareness of Linux-based solutions in data storage networking environments. FalconStor said they will provide a customized version of NetVault with every copy of IPStor sold.

BakBone and FalconStor plan to jointly demonstrate their products at Storage Network World in April.
