Brocade Continues Expansion in China

Brocade Communications Systems today announced what it claims is a comprehensive SAN education program as part of the companies initiative to support storage area network (SAN) expansion in the Chinese market.

In China, Brocade said it will deliver SAN education to IT technical professionals through its new storage networking education initiative, SAN*Ed, and through its relationship with Jiao Tong University. In addition, through an alliance with systems integrator P&T Shanghai, a subsidiary of China Putian Information Technology Industry Group (PTIC), Brocade plans to make available real world SAN “blueprint” configurations geared for the IT requirements of Chinese companies.

Brocade’s education initiatives in China include entry-level storage networking workshops, expanded Brocade Networking Storage Education Services and technical coursework localized for the region, and the regional availability of the Brocade SAN Certification Program. In addition, Brocade said it will fund a SAN scholarship program to foster the development of local storage networking expertise, while Jiao Tong University will provide in-depth, hands-on training and education to local IT professionals, making storage area networking a part of its Computer Science curriculum. In addition, Brocade will donate equipment to Jiao Tong University for SAN application research and development and for Fibre Channel performance benchmark testing.
