CA’s BrightStor Storage Resource Manager Adds MS Exchange 2000 Support

Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA) today announced the latest release of BrightStor Storage Resource Manager (SRM), the company’s enterprise-wide storage resource management solution.

CA said BrightStor SRM is designed for ease of deployment and administration. Release 6.2 optimizes the performance and integrity of customers’ critical messaging/collaboration applications by providing extended support for and integration with the Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. Also extends SRM capabilities to BrightStor Enterprise Backup, CA’s backup and recovery solution for enterprise environments, by providing enhanced reporting, monitoring, browsing and management capabilities.

According to the company, BrightStor SRM 6.2 provides technology managers with critical storage capacity information on Exchange 2000, including views from the server, public/private folder, and mailbox level. Administrators can anticipate storage requirements for capacity planning purposes. The company also said that by providing a common GUI-based management interface for centralized storage control across common computing platforms, BrightStor SRM seamlessly integrates management of Exchange-related storage with IT’s overall storage management strategy to ensure business continuity.

“As our customers’ storage environments become increasingly large and complex, management solutions such as BrightStor SRM are increasingly critical to the health and continuity of their business,” said Phil Treide, vice president, storage solutions, CA. “With the importance of email and other collaborative applications to users’ minute-to-minute productivity, BrightStor SRM is particularly vital in today’s digital economy.”

CA also offers BrightStor CA-Vantage Storage Resource Manager for z/OS and OS/390. A new version of that product, scheduled for release later this month, provides support for IBM’s DB2 UDB Server for z/OS and OS/390.
