CNT Multiplexer Qualified by EMC

CNT’s UltraNet Wave Multiplexer has been qualified by EMC Corporation as E-Lab Tested for Fibre Channel storage.

CNT said its Dense Wave Division Product (DWDM) is qualified to support EMC’s Fibre Channel- and ESCON-based Symmetrix and CLARiiON enterprise information storage systems as well as EMC’s data replication solutions, SRDF and MirrorView, expanding CNT’s storage networking offerings available for optical metropolitan-area environments.

“By expanding our qualifications with EMC, we’re offering our mutual customers more choices for the type of network architecture that best meets their business needs and investments in optical metropolitan-area network applications,” said Mark Knittel, VP of Worldwide Product Operations at CNT. “The qualification of our UltraNet Wave products for Fibre Channel storage is an important step in the cooperative efforts between our two companies. Fibre Channel storage is a major growth area and this qualification means that we can provide the value of our optical networking products to both Fibre Channel and traditional ESCON environments.”

According to CNT, its UltraNet Wave optical networking products take advantage of unused fiber capacity by carrying multiple signals over a single fiber, increasing the bandwidth potential from existing fiber optic lines. The company said the products enable point-to-point storage applications to operate over metropolitan distances and allow the applications to benefit from the increased capacity offered by optical networks.
