NetConvergence Inc. and FalconStor Software Inc. announced the certification of the NetConvergence iSCSI Initiator and Target Drivers with FalconStor’s IPStor product. The companies plan to demonstrate their joint iSCSI solutions at Storage Networking World this week.

The NetConvergence iSCSI Target is an integrated driver that provides iSCSI connectivity for IPStor, which in turn offers enterprise customers both SAN and NAS access with a suite of storage services.
iSCSI describes a transport protocol for SCSI that operates on top of TCP/IP. According to the companies, significant progress has been made in the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) working group for IP Storage (IPS) and this collaborative demonstration is in full conformance with the iSCSI specification drafted by the IETF.

The most compelling business benefit of iSCSI is its ability to leverage existing IP infrastructures and IT staff know-how. iSCSI is designed to instantly transform an IP network (LAN, MAN or WAN) into a Storage Area Network (SAN); clearly demonstrating the convergence of storage and networking.
