Compaq Selects Emulex HBA for Storage Solution

Emulex Corp. announced today that Compaq Computer Corp. , has selected the Emulex LightPulse LP9002L Fibre Channel HBA to provide connectivity for the new Compaq StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array.


As part of a joint development effort, Compaq has integrated support for Emulex’s driver interface into its management applications and utilities. Emulex’s drivers are fully compatible with its entire family of LightPulse host bus adapters, which the companies said allows customers to easily and efficiently transition to next-generation SAN performance.


“Emulex has played a strategic role in the solution deployment of Compaq’s new Enterprise Virtual Array,” said Roger Archibald, vice president of Compaq Enterprise Group’s Enterprise Array division…We continue to select Emulex HBAs for connectivity because of the high performance, rich feature set and our ability to integrate their HBAs seamlessly into our SAN management infrastructure.”


According to Emulex, the Emulex LP9002L provides high-performance server CPU offload, which improves storage I/O processing and access speed. With support for features such as full-duplex transfers, firmware upgradeability and hardware context cache, the Emulex LP9002L is idea/ for enterprise SANs requiring high-performance, scalability and ease of management. The Emulex LP9002L operates at speeds of up to 2Gb/s, and is capable of maintaining full backwards compatibility and interoperability with legacy 1Gb/s installations.
