EMC to Sell Quantum Tape Library With EMC Data Manager

Quantum Corporation today announced that as part of its continuing OEM relationship, EMC is now selling Quantum’s new P7000 enterprise-class library with both DLT 8000 and LTO Ultrium tape drives as part of the EMC Data Manager (EDM) backup and recovery solution.

Quantum said the P7000 has up to 16 tape drives and 679 cartridges, for 149 TB capacity and 1.7 TB/hour performance. The P7000 scales to 64 drives and 2,500 slots for more than 500 TB capacity and more than 7.0 TB/hour performance.

According to EMC, EDM consolidates and protects information for open system environments, supporting LAN, LAN-free and serverless backup for NAS and open systems environments. EMC said EDM connects to user network (IP) storage area networks (Fibre Channel SANs) and EMC Symmetrix Enterprise Storage systems to consolidate and control a wide variety of backup tasks for organizations’ open systems servers.
