Emulex Corp. has completed interoperability testing with Tivoli Software, IBM Software Group, for compatibility between its LP9002L Fibre Channel host bus adapters and Tivoli Storage Network Manager software in Windows 2000/NT operating environments.

“Tivoli Storage Network Manager helps IT professionals meet the challenge of managing tremendous data growth,” said Jose Iglesias, director, Tivoli Storage, IBM Software Group. “Emulex’s unique HBA architecture provides a complementary solution that reduces storage management complexity and provides the high-speed performance required for enterprise data centers.”

Emulex said its family of HBAs fully complements Tivoli’s storage management solution by offering a firmware-based architecture and operating system driver compatibility across Emulex’s entire HBA product line, which provides customers with a simplified upgrade path, reduced management complexities and also ensures a lower total cost of ownership.

According to Emulex, the LP9002L HBA operates at up to 2Gb/s Fibre Channel data rates, and offers auto speed negotiation, a function that enables the HBA to automatically sense the network’s maximum speed, while maintaining full backwards compatibility with 1Gb/s Fibre Channel installations. The LP9002L is also software compatible with Emulex’s entire family of LightPulse HBAs, including the 1Gb/s LP8000.
