Aug 7, 2001

Emulex Corp. , a supplier of storage networking host bus adapters (HBA), today announced the Emulex LightPulse(R) 2Gb/s LP9002C CompactPCI Fibre Channel HBA.

According to the company, the Emulex LP9002C is designed to combine next generation 2Gb/s performance and functionality with an efficient design, enabling the mid-range and enterprise server markets to provide improved fault tolerance in high availability, mission critical environments. It supports the CompactPCI industry standard, which is a version of the PCI standard that specifies a backplane connection and service-ability features.

“The LP9002C enables Emulex to further penetrate the Solaris-based server market segment by providing a highly reliable host attach connectivity solution for our enterprise customers and partners,” said Mike Smith, executive vice president of worldwide marketing at Emulex.

The LP9002C HBA, Emulex says, is fully compatible with existing Emulex 2Gb/s LP9002L low profile HBA drivers and software, which have been selected and certified for use with SAN solutions offered by a number of server and storage manufacturers. It initially supports Sun Microsystems Solaris platforms, features automatic speed selection, which, according to Emulex, provides customers with seamless migration toward new 2Gb/s installations while maintaining interoperability with legacy 1Gb/s SANs.
