It was announced today that the Fibre Channel Industry Association (FCIA) and the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) will co-exhibit for the first time in a specially designed exhibit program at COMDEX Fall 2001.
“In today’s competitive business environment, a company’s success can often depend upon an organization’s ability to strategically access, distribute and analyze its data,” said FCIA executive director Chris Lyon. “With the increase in e-commerce activities, the proliferation of customer data and the use of data-intensive applications, leveraging data in a timely and accurate way is crucial to business performance. Today, every business needs a strong storage networking strategy.”
“COMDEX offers a unique opportunity for our organizations to raise awareness about the need and the importance of interoperability of competitive networking products,” said Robin Glasgow, Executive Director of the SNIA. “Through the Networked Storage Solutions exhibit, SNIA and FCIA members provide customers with solutions to their storage needs, providing them with the tools they need to manage their storage networks.”
According to the SNIA and FCIA, the Networked Storage Solutions area at COMDEX Fall 2001 is designed to provide one focal point for all network storage, enabling visitors to see storage area networks (SANs) and network attached storage (NAS) working side-by-side using Fibre Channel, iSCSI and FCIP technologies. The area will be anchored by members of the associations, including Brocade Communications, IBM, QLogic and Seagate Technology. Exhibitors will demonstrate for COMDEX attendees the positive impact and value of adopting uniform operating standards and maintaining conformance to these standards.
