Gateway, Inc. today announced the first in a series of Network Attached Storage (NAS) products, the Gateway(TM) GS 400 storage system.
Initial offerings of the GS 400 include the $999 Model 140 with 40GB of storage–expandable to 160GB, the $1,999 Model 260 with 120GB of storage– expandable to 240GB, and the $2,799 Model 460 with 240GB of storage.
“As the digital office becomes a reality, gigabytes of network-based files replace file cabinets as the storage medium of this century,” said Chris Norman, director of server product marketing, Gateway. “The GS 400 is an economical way for any growing organization to quickly and easily increase storage capacity to handle their expanding computing needs.”
According to Gateway, the GS 400 storage system is ideal for small and medium businesses, workgroups of large corporations, educational and government institutions and small and medium Internet Service Providers and Application Service Providers. In addition, the GS 400 features front-loading hard drive bays and a 1U form-factor so it can be stacked on a desktop or placed in an industry-standard 19-inch server rack.
