IBM, Telefonica Partner on Business Continuity Solutions

Apr 15, 2002

Telefonica Data USA, a subsidiary of Telefonica DataCorp S.A., a provider of global corporate telecommunications services, and IBM today announced an agreement to deliver Business Continuity services in the United States. The companies said these on-demand services provide the technology and platforms to support multinational customers’ Business Continuity plans.

Under the terms of the agreement, IBM technology products will be deployed in Telefonica Data’s KeyCenter, the company’s Internet data center in Miami, Florida. IBM Global Services personnel will implement the data technology necessary to support the joint offerings. According to the companies, these services help safeguard mission-critical data and systems in multiple Telefonica Data locations, helping customers protect themselves against loss from natural or manmade disasters.

As part of the contract, IBM will be the preferred provider of information technology for these offerings to Telefonica Data in the United States, with IBM Global Services acting as the preferred provider for technology integration and installation. Telefonica Data USA will also become an IBM Hosting Advantage partner.
