Imation Corp. today announced the availability of Imation AIT-2 tape cartridges.
According to Imation, the new cartridges are compatible with all Advanced Intelligent Tape(TM) AIT-2 drives and libraries, provides 50 gigabyte native capacity (up to 100 gigabyte capacity with data compression) and has a native sustained data transfer rate of 6 megabyte/sec. (up to 12 megabyte/sec. compressed).
Frank Russomanno, general manager of Imation data storage media and services, said, “AIT-2 offers a combination of speed, size, and cost-effectiveness that serves the needs of businesses coping with the amount of data that is increasing at an exponential rate due to the storage demands of e-business.”
Imation AIT-2 tape have an estimated street price of $103.
