Legato Systems today introduced Legato NetWorker Operations software, which the company said simplifies the operation of the Legato enterprise backup and recovery product, Legato NetWorker, increases security through access control, and provides a variety of reports.
“NetWorker Operations has proven to be a valuable tool for many of our NetWorker customers who have backup operations staff supporting system administrators,” said Derek Gamradt, chief technology officer for StorNet, a leading nationwide provider of networked storage services. “The simple user interface, access controls, and reporting enhancements enable both operators and administrators to be more productive, resulting in improved service levels and lower cost of ownership.”
With NetWorker Operations, the company said operators can start and stop backups, monitor servers, clean drives, mount, un-mount, and label volumes. NetWorker Operations can also limit operator access to specified NetWorker servers and resources. According to Legato, NetWorker Operations’ reporting capability provides savegroup and client history, configuration data, library capacity, and NetWorker media information.
In addition, Legato said real-time streaming reports provide visual information about drive utilization that helps in optimizing use of backup resources. All these reports include the option to export content to industry standard formats for creating graphs showing backup capacity and elapsed time. NetWorker Operations was previously known as Backup Operator Manager from Integrity Systems.
