Legato Systems, Inc. this week announced that EMC Corporation has qualified Legato(R) Automated Availability Manager (LAAM) as E-Lab tested for wide area network (WAN) access with EMC’s Symmetrix Remote Data Facility (SRDF(TM)) software on IBM servers running the AIX operating system.
According to Legato, this automated, heterogeneous solution provides business continuance by leveraging EMC SRDF to replicate data and applications for seamless failover across a WAN to a replicated data center or secondary site. At the secondary site, the company said LAAM automates the restoration of the data and applications for fast and efficient resumption of business. LAAM for EMC SRDF also has been certified for HP-UX, Sun Solaris, IBM AIX and Windows 2000.
“Legato’s strong alliance with EMC gives us and our channel partners the ability to offer a business continuance solution for our customers who are running EMC SRDF in their IBM AIX enterprises,” said George Symons, vice president, product management and development, Legato Systems. “EMC SRDF in an AIX environment can now take full advantage of the industry leading automated availability capabilities of LAAM and offer 24×7 service even in the face of a major disaster.”
“Legato Automated Availability Manager serves as a key component in our solution mix, enabling us to better address the application and data availability needs of today’s heterogeneous, data intensive organization,” said Paul Mayer, manager, availability products at DataLink, the nation’s leading architect of enterprise-class information storage infrastructures. “As enterprise-class storage architects who use best-of-breed software, we are pleased with Legato’s new direction for this product suite, and feel that this strategic effort will effectively position the technology for the next generation of automated availability management.”
