LSI Logic Corporation’s ITI3280UDCH-S CompactPCI dual channel HVD (high voltage differential) SCSI HBA has achieved Solaris Ready Certification from Sun Microsystems.

Sun said the Solaris Ready logo identifies technologies that have passed Sun’s standards for reliability, integration and ease-of-installation into Solaris Operating Environments (OE). According to the companies, in order to receive the Solaris Ready designation, products must complete a rigorous testing process conducted by KeyLabs, an independent computer products testing laboratory. KeyLabs evaluates products for interoperability, platform support, Solaris compliance, ease-of-installation, driver compatibility, and product documentation.

“The Solaris Ready Certification program continues to illustrate Sun’s leadership in promoting development for the Solaris platform,” said Patrick Chang, Director, Sun Developer Network, Sun Microsystems, Inc. “The Solaris Ready logo identifies that the LSI Logic ITI3280UDCH-S CompactPCI dual channel HVD SCSI HBA has been rigorously tested and verified to operate in the Solaris 8 Operating Environment.”

LSI Logic said the ITI3280UDCH-S is a bridgeless, one chip, dual-channel HBA offering HVD SCSI with full Hot Swap capability for the Sun Fire 3800, 4800, 4810 and 6800 systems. It connects the Sun Midframe servers to SCSI HVD disk arrays and tape libraries. The ITI3280UDCH-S uses a device driver bundled in the Solaris OE. LSI Logic anticipates certification for other Sun product line complementary products in the future including Ultra320 SCSI and 2 Gbit Fibre Channel host bus adapters.
