LSI Logic Corporation , a supplier of IDE and SCSI RAID technology, this week announced it is supplying IDE solutions to Compaq Computer Corporation for its Compaq ProLiant servers.
LSI Logic said the Compaq ProLiant ML330 G2 is shipping with an enhanced, on motherboard version of the LSI Logic MegaRAID IDEal 100, which provides entry level server customers with support for RAID levels 0, 1 and 10. This solution functions as a PCI to IDE/ATA host controllers supporting the fastest ATA/100 hard drives.
“With the new LSI Logic IDE technologies Compaq continues to deliver on its strategy to provide small-to-medium business (SMB) and branch office customers high levels of availability and performance at the most competitive costs,” said Paul Miller, director of marketing for mainstream servers, Compaq Industry Standard Server Group. “LSI Logic IDE technologies in Compaq ProLiant servers offers SMB customers increased data protection by enabling RAID functionality at the entry level.”
MegaRAID IDEal 100 supports a variety of operating systems, including: Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 95, 98, ME, NT 4.0, 2000 and XP; Linux(R) RedHat 7.x, Suse 7.x and Caldera 3.1; and NetWare 5.x.
