Maxtor and Iomega Announce Enterprise NAS Server

Mar 27, 2001

Maxtor(R) Corporation and Iomega Corporation today announced the release of a new line of Windows(R) 2000 NAS. Available under the new Iomega(R) DataSafe brand, the new server combines Maxtor’s NAS technology with Iomega’s QuikSync(TM) software.

“By partnering with Iomega, Maxtor extends the solution set and the customer base for our NAS architecture,” said Victor Jipson, president, Maxtor’s Network Systems Group. “Iomega has made substantial investments in both sales and field support to big business, and their QuikSync software is a rapidly growing, corporate favorite application. Maxtor will continue to sell NAS servers under our own MaxAttach brand, but Iomega will accelerate the acceptance of our hardware and software with new accounts. This is a win-win for both companies.”

Iomega expects to ship its DataSafe(TM) NAS servers in the second quarter of this year. According to the companies, DataSafe 320GB NAS servers will have a suggested price of $4,999 and include a 50-seat license for QuikSync 3 automatic client backup software, while DataSafe 160GB NAS servers will have a suggested price of $3,299 and include a 20-seat QuikSync 3 software license.
