OTG’s DeskXtender Meets IBM’s Linear Tape Open Tape Drives


Online storage management vendor OTG Software today announced that its DiskXtender 2000 data management product now supports IBM’s Linear Tape Open (LTO) tape technology.


According to OTG Software, DiskXtender 2000 provides intelligent, automated file migration and access to enterprise data, in addition to improving the flexibility, scalability and performance of the Windows 2000 file system.


LTO tape technology is designed to offers high-capacity, high-end storage to midrange and enterprise network servers, as well as Storage Area Netowrk (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) systems.


David Walling, Director, LTO Business Line, Storage Technology Division, IBM said tape drives “based on LTO technology, when combined with DiskXtender offer a tape backup solution which is optimized for high capacity and performance.”


OTG recently launched two new products, DiskXtender for UNIX and DiskXtender for Linux.
