QLogic Delivers 2Gb SAN Solution at 1Gb Prices

QLogic today announced the SAN Connectivity Kit 2000, a complete 2Gb storage network solution aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises. At an MSRP of $9,999, QLogic says that the SAN Connectivity Kit 2000 offers twice the performance for the same price as it’s 1Gb SAN Connectivity Kit 1000.

Available through authorized distributors in North America and Europe, the SAN Connectivity Kit 2000, offers a simple, affordable entry to the benefits of SANs The kit includes everything an IT administrator needs to get started in connecting their first storage network including:

  • QLogic SANbox2 8 port switch
  • Four SANblade 2310 host bus adapters (HBAs)
  • QLogic SANsurfer Tool Kit SAN management software
  • Small Form Factor Pluggable (SFP) connectors
  • Device driver software for Windows NT, Solaris, Linux and NetWare
  • Compatibility with 1Gb devices
  • Four Fiber optic cables
  • User’s Guide
  • One year warranty

“2 Gig matters now, and at this price point, it should be able to make an impact in the mid-market,” said Steve Duplessie, founder and senior analyst, Enterprise Storage Group. “SAN adoption is taking off in earnest, and by eliminating the price concerns, more folks should find this attractive.”

QLogic is on of the companies involved in the Affordable SAN Initiative, The initiative, which is supported by more than 35 players in the SAN storage market, was initially launched in early February of this year. Members of the initiative say their goal is to dispel the notion that SANs are unaffordable for small and medium-sized businesses.
